A BILL to amend and reenact section eleven, article one, chapter seventeen-e of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, relating to removing the requirement that a person's social security number appear on a commercial driver's license.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That section eleven, article one, chapter seventeen-e of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended and reenacted to read as follows:

ARTICLE 1. COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE.

§17E-1-11. Commercial driver's license.

The commercial driver's license must be marked "commercial driver's license" or "CDL" and must be, to the maximum extent practicable, tamper proof. It must include, but not be limited to, the following information:

(a) The name and residential address of the person;

(b) The person's color photograph;

(c) A physical description of the person including sex, height, weight, eye and hair color;

(d) Date of birth;

(e) The person's signature;

(f) The class or type of commercial motor vehicle or vehicles which the person is authorized to drive, together with any endorsement(s) or restriction(s);

(g) The name of this state; and

(h) The dates between which the license is valid. and

(i) Social security number

remove the requirement that a person's social security number appear on a commercial driver's license.
